Optum

As health insurers strive to manage costs and improve wellness and care for their clients’ employees, they are faced with daunting trends that include the growing prevalence of chronic conditions – including obesity, diabetes, heart disease and COPD.  Too often, resources that individuals and organizations can use to prevent these conditions go underutilized, while the occurrences of serious illness and the high costs associated continue to climb.

Optum has long been a national leader in the design and implementation of innovative health and wellness plans that help employers confront these trends.  At the forefront of Optum’s approach is employee education about workplace wellness, nutrition, mental health, weight loss, smoking cessation and other programs that help individuals take greater control of their own health.

Optum turned to Westfourth to develop a series of marketing tools and content that would raise awareness of wellness programs among existing clients and encourage employee participation in employer-sponsored programs.  Other employer-targeted content developed by Westfourth included thought leadership pieces about complex healthcare issues and industry trends, including the impact of federal and state health insurance exchanges, the rise of private health exchanges, and analyses of employer priorities regarding health benefits management.

Results

Wellness marketing materials and other collaterals developed by Westfourth have today found their way into thousands of businesses and corporations nationwide that are working with Optum to deploy employee health programs.  Our white papers and other thought leadership pieces continue to be featured prominently on the Optum website, and are frequently used by the company’s business development and client account teams.
